Good morning and happy Monday! What a tear filled Sunday, Sept 11 it was. I loved the coverage and the memorials on the television! It really put in to perspective how many people were affected that day 10 years ago, it also made me even more pleased to be an American...I think before 9-11-01 we were America...after we re-earned the name, UNITED States of America. There is a blessing in all things that happen and this was a coming back into the fold that we needed, to be UNITED again, to wax strong as the mighty SEQUOIA TREE.....
While on a tour of California's giant sequoias, the guide pointed out that the sequoia tree has roots just barely below the surface. "That's impossible!" I exclaimed. "I'm a country boy, and I know that if the roots don't grow deep into the earth, strong winds will blow the trees over." "Not sequoia trees," said the guide. "They grow only in groves and their roots intertwine under the surface of the earth. So, when the strong winds come, they hold each other up." There's a lesson here. In a sense, people are like the giant sequoias. Family, friends, neighbors, the church body and other groups should be havens so that when the strong winds of life blow, these people can serve as reinforcement and can strive together to hold each other up.

Today, let us remember the sequoia tree and think of how we are intwined, how when tragedy threatens to take our lands, we as a nation join hands and become strong! As long as we are mindful that this is the only way we can endure, that we can stay standing...our nation will never fall!
I pray this day is filled with wonderful things for you , that you find time to sit and chat with our father in heaven, that you take time to tell those who dwell in your heart that you love them and that you look in the mirror and love what you see! If you are feeling a little worse for the wear, look passed the casing and see the seed, if you still are unhappy with what you see, ask God to show you what changes need to take place so that you will once again love the very core of you! If your heart is not looking pretty today...nourish it, polish it, give some of it away and allow some fresh love to come in...when your heart is beautiful your entire being is beautiful...try it out! Have a beautiful day my friends, know that you are loved, you are appreciated and more over you are a very important part of this world!

Father in heaven I come to you this day asking for much mercy on one who is struggling with the evils of drug addiction. Father this addiction has plagued him for so long and has acted as a false God to him, when he is on these drugs he feels power, he feels relief, he lets all of his inhibitions go and becomes who he so desires to be, Father today, at this very moment, place your arms around him and show let him look beyond the veil at what could be if only he begin to make hallowed choices, allow him to see where he is going if he continues to make wrong choices father. I ask that you protect him from himself and impress upon him the goodness he has potential of if only he will follow Christ's footsteps. Father bless his family as they have grown weary with the worry and the fear of this addiction, bless them with peace that this young man will see you light and decide to walk toward it! Father give them comfort when they cry and calm when they feel there is none but most of all give them love to know that you are with them in all that is happening! You are amazing father and we believe that though Christ all things are possible! In Jesus name we pray, amen.
