Happy "tank fillin' day" yes you know it is my favorite day of the week, and this week...the Lord knows my tank was almost dry and I feel as if I have been running on fumes. My sweet friend has been in surgery almost an hour now, please do continue to pray with us, asking for no complications. The leg is being amputated but will be left open for a few days for monitoring as the infection is so extreme and then another surgery will take place in a few days to close it up.
In prayer this morning as I sat out, I found myself praying fervently for my friend, her forever partner and her daughter. I am told that she was accepting of the surgery and that she was in good spirits going in, God I ask you to hold her each step of the way, never for a moment allow her to feel anything but your love and your strength. I asked God to continue blessing you and yours with His love, His peace, His calm and His comfort. I prayed that He would bless each of us with an instance today that our faith can touch the heart of one not so faithful. I asked him to place me where he needs me and I thanked him for allowing me to serve him. Father we know so many right now who need your healing hands, so many who have battled for so long not giving in or up because they believe, answer their prayers this morning allow them to feel your hand upon them, allow them to use your strength as their own and make new strides toward healing today. I ask each of these favors humbly and cling tight to my faith in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love this story and wanted to re-share it with you this morning...I think we all have been caught trying to move the biggest boulders all alone, I know I am guilty of forgetting that with a mere prayer in asking...He will help us move it with ease!!!
Moving Rocks
A little boy was spending his Saturday morning playing in his sandbox. He had with him his box of cars and trucks, his plastic pail, and a shiny, red plastic shovel. In the process of creating roads and tunnels in the soft sand, he discovered a large rock in the middle of the sandbox.
The boy dug around the rock, managing to dislodge it from the dirt. With a little bit of struggle, he pushed and nudged the rock across the sandbox by using his feet. (He was a very small boy, and the rock was very large.) When the boy got the rock to the edge of the sandbox however, he found that he couldn't roll it up and over the little wall.
Determined, the little boy shoved, pushed, and pried, but every time he thought he had made some progress, the rock tipped and then fell back into the sandbox. The little boy grunted, struggled, pushed, & shoved; but his only reward was to have the rock roll back, smashing his chubby fingers.
Finally he burst into tears of frustration. All this time the boy's father watched from his living room window as the drama unfolded. At the moment the tears fell, a large shadow fell across the boy and the sandbox. It was the boy's father. Gently but firmly he said,
"Son, why didn't you use all the strength that you had available?"
Defeated, the boy sobbed back,
"But I did, Daddy, I did! I used all the strength that I had!"
"No, son," corrected the father kindly.
"You didn't use all the strength you had. You didn't ask me."
With that the father reached down, picked up the rock and removed it from the sandbox.
Do you have "rocks" in your life that need to be removed? Are you discovering that you don't have what it takes to lift them? There is One who is always available to us and willing to give us the strength we need. Isn't it funny how we try so hard to do things ourselves.
