Any man can be a father but it takes a special man to be a "daddy"

Good morning, happy "tank filling day" You know I love Sunday, the day we can fill our spiritual tanks to ensure that we have enough to get us through whatever this world throws at us for the coming week. Today is a special day for many..."Father's Day" the day we honor our dad's! I pray your day is filled with an abundance of joy and laughter, with sweet memories of your dad's and of making new ones!

In my morning chat with our Father in Heaven I thanked him for being my Father, for loving me enough to make the greatest sacrifice of all. I thanked him for allowing me to have joy in my life and for allowing me to know so many wonderful dad's. I am married to a wonderful dad, Wayde loves his sons and Megan so very much, he is a very quiet, reserved man but would turn into the king of the jungle if anyone ever tried to harm them. I am very fortunate to be a part of his life and to see his interaction and the pure love that he has. I thanked him for Megan's dad, Homer. A strong man who has loved Megan with all of his being, he has been the best dad I could ever imagined when it comes to loving his kid. We did not make it as a married couple but we did make it as parents. I look at Homer with great respect and am very blessed to have him as "paw-paw" to our grandson.
I thank you Father for allowing me time to see Derek with baby Chalmers, to know that he too will be the best of the best when it comes to being a dad, the few days that I spent with them after the babies birth showed me that Derek would lay his very life down to protect his son. A grandparent could ask for nothing more for their grandchild. I also thanked him for allowing me to have brothers in my life who are fantastic dad's, my two brothers have always been such a source of strength to their children, have loved whole heartedly and worked hard to ensure that their children have all of their needs met. I am very blessed and I thank you God for each of these people in my life.
I ask that you pray with me this morning for a young lady delivering her baby early due to health issues, provide this young lady with strength and provide the baby all that is needed to make her strong and healthy. I lift each of you in prayer asking God to provide your needs this day, asking God to allow you time to sit and reflect on your dad's if they are no longer in the physical world and allowing you time to spend with your dad's if they are. God, again I thank you for loving me. I ask for favor, mercy, grace, and love for all in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

My dad and mom married bringing with them 2 children each to merge as a family, soon there were 3 more in the mix. Split families often times have problems but as far as problems go we had none, we accepted one another as siblings and never referred to each other as step or half anything....we were family and that was the way it was! I will not say my Dad was perfect, ummmm I don't think any are, but I will say my Dad was the best dad that he knew how to be. As I grow older I find myself remembering fun things we did growing up, the camping trips were the best, if you ever got to go camping with the Ashley's you were blessed. I remember how hard my dad worked to ensure that each of us were given opportunities in our lives, I remember fishing at Phillip's resevoir, I remember the bbq's...My dad was the type of man who would give the shirt off his very back if it was needed, he cared deeply about each of us and always made sure that we were provided for. My dad was a proud man and although he was tough at times he was also very gentle and kind. I would like to thank him today for the guidance he gave to each of us, for the core values he instilled in us. I know that he has found peace in his life in heaven and that one day we will meet again, he in perfect form and welcoming each of us into paradise.
I  miss you dad!
