"Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; your ignorance is betrayed by your suspicions and prejudices, and your real caliber is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others."
William J.H. Boetcker (1873-1962)
oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I've got a beautiful feeling, everything's going my way!!! This will be my song of the day, I am filled with positive thoughts and no matter what we are going through I refuse to let anyone take my sunshine away...I look around me on the rare occasions when I am out of the house and I see such sadness and grrrrr. We do all of our shopping at wal~mart and I swear the majority of the people are akin to zombies...they amble around the store head focused on only what they are buying and they don't realize that anyone else on earth exists. There are frown marks everywhere I go? What has happened to us as a people of God, where is the joy in our lives? Why is there so much angst and sadness?
No matter what I may be going through in life, there is a time when you have to let go of the woe! You have to pick up the rod of faith and hope and you have to let everyone see the light of Christ that lives within you...that just brought to mind the song..."this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine" Isn't it so much easier to be happy, isn't it easier to have faith that God is going to take care of every situation in your life, it might not be the way you have fashioned the outcome in your mind but there will always be an outcome and it is always going to be a part of God's master plan. I delight in seeing people smile, I get excited when I am surrounded by happy people. I am overcome with joy when I hear laughter and I see smile lines on others faces! It is what we all are here for to have and to spread joy...have you done your job today? Have you ever worked in a place where there was no joy in your surroundings, I bet you could not wait for the whistle to blow so that you could get out and regain your energy...I call it being around energy vampires...have you ever been around someone who was droll and unhappy only to find yourself feeling physically drained...that is the energy vampire at work. I make a habit of trying to make p people smile everyday...most of them don't even realize they are frowning, WHERE IS THE JOY...
Today I ask you to do but one thing! Every where you go make it your purpose to turn a frown upside down, make eye contact and smile, if you see a person who looks very nice comment of it, if you see someone who has a nice hair do, tell them so, if you see someone who has beautiful eyes, let them know that you think so, if you see a mother who's children are behaving in a pleasing manner, commet to her how nice her children are, if you see someone who is obviously hurting, make it your duty to say hello, have a nice day, or just lay an "everything is going to be okay" hand on them and say may GOD bless you! It really is not that difficult to take a little time and look around at the folks in your space....look into their eyes and let God tell you what they are in need of...99% of the "sad people" are only in need of a little kindness!
Remember this very day, that what you give is what you get...if a smile is not returned don't become discouraged for even though it did not seem to be taken from you....IT WAS, the person is left wondering why did he/she smile at me, and believe it or not the absorbed it and before long they will take the smile you gave and give it to someone else, this causes a domino effect....Lets be like dominos today, the effect has to start from somewhere, why not let it start with YOU?
"Those who make compassion an essential part of their lives find the joy of life. Kindness deepens the spirit and produces rewards that cannot be completely explained in words. It is an experience more powerful than words. To become acquainted with kindness one must be prepared to learn new things and feel new feelings. Kindness is more than a philosophy of the mind. It is a philosophy of the spirit."
