RIP Coach Brand....coach, teacher, mentor and friend!!!

Tonight after sitting and pondering on my days at Columbia High in West Columbia Texas so many memories came flying back. I remember the joy and laughter in the hallways, the friendships that were made and that have lasted all of these years and the teachers that touched my heart and lit a fire in me. Coach Charlie Brand was one of those teachers, he never was without a smile and a wonderful laugh. He was the happiest man I had ever known, all of the kids loved him and loved being around him.

Coach had the most beautiful wife and the two of them together were the epitome of what a couple in love should be, they were Columbia High's sweetest couple...Coach was a fixture at the school for 47 years, many of us who have kids that went there most probably had some type of contact with him. West Columbia has lost a man of honor, a man of dignity, a man of values, a man of understanding and unconditional love. He will be missed but his memory will live in the hearts of most every student that passed through the doors of old CHS, for the many years he gave such a dedicated service in teaching and coaching. RIP Coach...we salute you...you will be missed!!!

ALL COACHES REMEMBER THIS ...

Good coaches plan – great coaches plan every detail based on a strong personal philosophy

Good coaches understand the game – Great coaches understand the game, their athletes, and how to teach both.

Good coaches have strong beliefs – Great coaches are believed.

Good coaches are positive – Great coaches have a positive passion.

Good coaches make an athlete who they are = Great coaches make their athletes see what they can be and help them achieve it!

Good coaches talk about their expectations – Great coaches have athletes who meet their expectations.

Coach Brand you were all of this and more, someday we shall meet again inside heaven's door.

Heavenly Father we lift the Brand family in prayer asking you to bless them with peace in their hearts, calm in their minds and comfort in their bodies, wrap them in your loving arms and allow them the knowledge that although Coach Brand is no longer here in physical body, he will always be here in heart and in memory. Father you gained a wonderful angel, he has been the example that so many only wish they could be...give him a team of tennis playing angels Lord and let him do what he loves best...be the coach...In the name of Jesus Christ we ask for mercy, grace, favor and abundant love. Amen...
