Happy Easter every one...."HE IS RISEN" yes indeed He has!!!! As I sit reflecting on this day and what it means...I sit and think "I am not worthy...I am not good enough for him to have been hanged to death and then placed in that tomb...I am not worthy of this sacrifice...BUT evidently He knows more about me than I do myself, He died for my sins, He died so I might have life, He died for me....Yes Jesus loves me, therefore I shall walk all of the days of my life here on earth in his footsteps, I shall strive to be all that he wishes me to be and I shall never deny my love for him.
In prayer this morning I bowed my head in humility thanking God for what this day means, for what we celebrate, for all that he has done for me, for all that continues to do for me and for all that he has promised as long as I hold fast to my faith and have pure love in my heart. I thanked him for the beautiful blessing of each of you who come and share in prayer with us each day. I thanked him for the miracle of my amazing daughter, my love and life...and for allowing me to feel the kind of love that only a parent can feel, for thinking of the great sacrifice he made and knowing if it had been up to me that I could never have even come close to this sacrifice with my child. I thanked him for the gift of my unborn grandson and I asked special favor over him that he might be raised with knowledge that he is loved, he is favored, he is blessed and he is the son of God and the brother of Jesus Christ. I asked God to bless each of you this day with quiet reflection to its meaning, that you might take time to spend in heart felt conversation with our Savior and that you might feel only his love. I asked for mercy, grace, favor and blessings in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
O God, who for our redemption gave your only-begotten Son to the death of the cross, and by his glorious resurrection delivered us from the power of our enemy: Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin?
Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection? I never noticed this....
The Gospel of John 20:7 (YLT) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes.
The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed separate from the grave clothes.
Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.
She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'
Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see... The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.
Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.
Was that important? Absolutely!
Is it really significant? Yes!
In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this
Tradition.
When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he
Made sure that it
Was exactly the way the master wanted it.
The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished.
Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.
The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'.
But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table,
Because.........
The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!'
He is Coming Back!
